Alongside the release of the iOS4 GM candidate to developers, Apple also released a beta version of iTunes 9.2 to members of its ADC network.
If you are a developer and have recently upgraded your iPhone to iOS4, then you’ll need to download and install iTunes 9.2 beta in order to gain support to sync your iOS4-based device. General advise at the minute is to install this software first, and then update your device to iOS4.
Below you’ll find the full change of the software, for when it is finally released publicly.
• Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go
• Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 4 and iBooks 1.1
• Organize and sync PDF documents as books. Read PDFs with iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 4
• Organize your apps on your iPhone OS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes
• Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 4
• Performance improvements make scrolling much faster
Most notably is the first, allowing users to now sync their iPhone 4 with iTunes. But hang on a second … I didn’t think there were any in the wild yet? Well, obviously there must be a few out there somewhere. Secondly, is the addition of iBooks and iBookstore to the iOS 4. Please note that they actually don’t say iOS4, they still say iPhone OS 4… still abit confused on that one – if you have new marketing Apple, stick to it!
Finally, this update also brings along the ability to make Folders from within iTunes itself, very handy little feature in my opinion.
Stay tuned as we’ll be posting our thoughts on the whole event of yesterday’s events this week!
