Alpha-Numeric iPhone Passcode – [HOW TO]

If you are like me, you like to keep your devices secure and safe. That is why at all times my device is locked with a passcode lock. This lock could be even more secure with an alpha-numeric passcode. What is the best part about this neat little trick? …

It requires no jailbreak. This only works on devices 3.0+. It is yet unconfirmed as to if this works on iPads or on the 4.0 beta software.

Before we begin, make sure to turn the passcode lock off if you have it on.

Step 1:

Simply tap the Safari icon and navigate to rfly.me/nalock. This will redirect you to a .mobileconfig file. Safari allows these files to be downloaded to iPhones. Once navigated, you will be prompted to install the profile. Just click install then install now.

Step 2:

You will then be asked to create a passcode.  Just type on the keyboard and tap next. It will then ask you to confirm it. Again, click next. Then done. It will redirect you to Safari.

Step 3:

Once you exit Safari, your device will redirect you to the last available page you have on your iPhone/iPod Touch. You should notice a new icon. This icon can not be removed with the familiar tap+hold gesture. To delete this icon, we must delete the profile. To do this, tap on Settings > General and scroll down to the bottom and you should see a “Profile” button. Tap that. Simply press the red remove button. Then type in your passcode. Once it finishes removing, you will no longer have the icon.

There we go. It’s as simple as that. I love having the alpha-numeric passcode. If you ever wish to uninstall it, just go to Settings and remove the passcode lock.  Then, if you wish, you can turn back on the lock and it will be set as the default four-number lock we are all used to.

    Awesome 😉
Only a bad thing (in my opinion): with that mobileconfig file you install even 2 webclips :S

Wow, looks super complicated but I too like to keep my things on lock.. Can never trust anyone. My ex also always used to look through my phones and it was just annoying.
