John Ternus had barely taken the reins at Apple before Wall Street had something to say about it.

On his first day as CEO, Apple’s stock jumped almost 3-percent.

That’s a pretty extraordinary welcome for the man taking over the world’s most valuable technology company.

And then there was Ternus himself.

His contribution to the day’s headlines? A single post on X:

“hello”

I’m not suggesting for a moment those two things are connected. One tweet from a CEO doesn’t suddenly move a company the size of Apple by itself.

But the timing is certainly fun.

After 15 years of Tim Cook, investors were getting their first real look at the market’s reaction to the beginning of the Ternus era — and the reaction was positive.

Apple’s new CEO didn’t arrive with a grand declaration about the future.

He simply showed up.

And Apple’s stock went up.

For a company that can turn almost anything into a major event, it’s a wonderfully appropriate beginning to a new chapter.

Now comes the interesting part:

Can he keep the momentum going?
