Siri has lived inside our iPhones for more than a decade. Now, Apple has given her a Home Screen icon …
The new Siri app is now available on the App Store, arriving alongside the public release of iOS 27 and Apple’s new Siri AI experience.

This isn’t simply the old Siri interface packaged up as an app. Apple has built the new experience around conversations, with the dedicated app allowing you to pick up where you left off and keep your Siri conversations synced across your Apple devices through iCloud. (Apple Support)
That makes Siri feel a little less like a button you press and a little more like somewhere you actually go.

The new Siri AI is considerably more conversational, with the ability to understand personal context, answer questions using broader knowledge, understand what’s happening on screen and take actions across apps. Apple has also added things like Write with Siri and a much more capable Visual Intelligence experience. (Apple)
There’s something slightly surreal about seeing Siri sitting alongside Messages, Safari, Photos and Music on the Home Screen after all these years.
For most of its life, Siri has been something you summon.

Now Apple seems to want Siri to become somewhere you spend time.
The app is part of Apple’s much bigger Siri AI rollout with iOS 27, although availability of Siri AI itself varies by language, device and region. Apple currently lists Siri AI as available in English, while its feature availability page notes that it isn’t initially available on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS in the EU.
Still, the icon appearing on the Home Screen feels like a surprisingly significant moment.
Siri isn’t just hiding inside the operating system anymore.
She’s got an app, and that hasn’t been the case since Apple bought the intelligent assistant from Dag Kittlaus, Tom Gruber, and Adam Cheyer back in 2010.
